This is the world’s first luminous bicycle lane, open to the public free of charge throughout the year.
The ancient Greek philosopher Thales once looked up at the splendid starry sky while walking, and did not notice the foot, "plop" accidentally fell into the well. The accident was so serious that after two thousand years, people will still use this story as an example to remind everyone to pay more attention to walking.
But the sky is so beautiful, just look down and don't miss the starry night scene? Nowadays, the power of technology allows people who like to look up at the sky to see the mysterious dreamy "starry sky" at their feet.
On the outskirts of Eindhoven, the Netherlands, there is a 600-meter bicycle path. Every night, the road will become very beautiful: thousands of small stones with blue-green shimmer, like the galaxy starry sky, squatting forward, riding on this road, there is a romantic dream.
A dreamlike romantic bicycle path inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Sky
This is one of the first luminous bicycle lanes in the world. The entire route runs through the northern province of Brabant, 335 km (208 miles). On November 13th, it is open to the public free of charge. On the officially published map, you can clearly see five separate itineraries: Newnan (51 km), Breda (60 km), Eaton-Luhr (49 km), Tilburg (51 km), Den Bosch (30 km), which links Van Gogh's life trails in North Brabant.
This bicycle lane pays tribute to the great painter by the technology, named "Van Gogh - Roosegaarde Path", in which the advertising slogan is: Here, history meets the future.
On the map, you can see that the luminous bicycle path passes through Zundert, the birthplace of Van Gogh, and Tilburg, where the first true painting class is located, for his first model. Etten, and the creation of Nuenen, the man who eats potatoes. In addition, in the upper right corner of the map, 's-Hertogenbosch, there is a museum with a series of masterpieces by Van Gogh in the North Brabant period.
The section of the suburb of Eindhoven is to commemorate that Van Gogh lived here from 1883 to 1885.
Inspired by Van Gogh's famous painting "Starry Sky", Dutch pioneering designer Daan Roosegaarde has paved stones on the pavement with special paints that absorb light energy and store energy during the day when the sun is abundant. After dark or in a cloudy and dark environment, the small stones will slowly glow, creating a beautiful swirl pattern that forms a self-sufficient lighting system.
However, on cloudy days, solar stones may not receive sufficient light and insufficient illumination. So the path also has LED lights to improve visibility in special situations. In addition to commemorating Van Gogh, this bicycle lane is also an attempt to new intelligent highways. At night, the dim bike path makes riding very dangerous. Bicycle lanes that use sustainable energy to illuminate will help reduce this safety hazard.
