Recently, Nichia has developed a white LED module with a light intensity of 1000 lm, with a mounting area of ​​40 mm × 40 mm × 10 mm. When the output light intensity is 1000 lm, the power consumption is 30 W, the luminous efficiency is 33 lm/W, and the maximum input power is 50 W. The mounting substrate is equipped with a plurality of blue LED chips and combined with a yellow phosphor material. Nichia has not disclosed the detailed specifications of the module, as well as the production schedule.
In general, as the output power increases, the internal temperature of the white LED module will rise, and the luminous efficiency will decrease. In addition, if the size of the LED chip is increased, an electric field distribution is generated inside the chip, which also causes a decrease in luminous efficiency. In response to this problem, Nichia said, "The details cannot be disclosed at present, but by improving the electrode structure and packaging technology of the LED chip, it is possible to improve the luminous efficiency."
Nichia also released a white LED module with a luminous efficiency of 50 lm/W. In a 5mm diameter shell-type package, the light intensity is 3.6lm when a voltage of +3.6V is applied at 20mA. A 300 micron x 300 micron blue LED chip and a yellow phosphor material are combined. The company used the white LED module as a lighting device to illuminate the booth.
