ON Semiconductor pushes LED driver and ambient light...
May 28, 2023
It is reported that ON Semiconductor has launched a lighting management component NCP5890.
According to the mixing, the NCP5890 has a 30V output voltage capability, driving a series of LEDs to achieve an LCD screen balanced backlight. In addition, the component controls three sets of white light led or red, green and blue primary color (RGB) LEDs to create a decorative light map on the keyboard or chassis. The driver adjusts the backlight current based on the brightness of the ambient light to extend battery life. The NCP5890 Inductive Boost LED Driver delivers up to 90% of the total power supply voltage regulator at 1.3MHz shutter frequency, which can drive up to eight LEDs in series for LCD backlighting and decorative lighting. This component senses ambient light and reduces power consumption and increases user comfort. The NCP5890 features built-in progressive dimming for intrusion and ejection. Ambient light sensing and progressive dimming are built-in automation functions that can be started with simple I2C commands. This component supports the I2C protocol and has two different address options. The integrated drive has a true cut-off feature that limits the drain output in shutdown mode to extend battery life. The NCP5890 integrates LCD backlight, decorative light control and ambient light sensing in a 3x3x0.5mm QFN-16 package for small smartphones and portable media players.
